Mongouge, Richfond, Saltibus and Ti Rocher Castries were handed over to the Department of Health, Welfare and the Aged (and Department of Equity). The modernization of the facilities was carried out by contractors AIG Construction Ltd, Lawrence Associates Ltd and Phoenix Construction Limited.
These 12 facilities were part of a group of 15 health care facilities in Saint Lucia being upgraded to become safer, greener and more resilient to natural disasters and climate change. The other three modernized health centers already officially handed over to the government of Saint Lucia were the wellness centers of Mon Repos, Desruisseaux and Belle Vue. A full SMART design for the La Clery Wellness Center has also been provided to the Department of Health, Welfare and Elderly Affairs. and climate change – a major transformation of the national network of health facilities.
The wellness center in Monchy, the location of this transfer, was chosen as the small establishment with the highest score for safety and greenery in the post-renovation evaluations carried out in 2020. The wellness center de Vieux Fort received a comprehensive upgrade to achieve the Project ‘Gold’ SMART healthcare facility standard. Three facilities received full SMART renovations, including the Comfort Bay Seniors Home and the Children’s Transit Home.
