Donating blood can save lives, health experts say

Islamabad: Donating blood can save lives and there are no complications associated with the activity.

That’s what Dr Nosheen Hamid, Parliamentary Secretary for Health, said as she addressed a seminar at police headquarters here on Saturday. The seminar was organized by the Islamabad police on the orientations of the IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman.

Addressing the rally as the main guest, Dr Nosheen said safe blood transfer is ensured so that those in need get healthy blood. She said the role of the Islamabad police was exemplary during the coronavirus pandemic. She said several police officials donated blood to thalassemia patients and saved hundreds of precious lives.

The seminar was also attended by DIG (Headquarters) Kamran Adil, SSP (Headquarters) Muhamamd Omar Khan, as well as officers and staff from all divisions. Dr Nosheen said donating blood is a healthy activity and added that patients always need blood. She dispelled the impression that donating blood could lead to any medical complications.

Experts from the Regional Blood Center spoke to participants about the benefits of transferring blood. They were of the opinion that the transfer of blood should comply with international standards which they added, could help save precious lives.

DIG Kamran Adil thanked the worthy guests and wished the participants to follow the guidelines shared by the experts. The guest of honor was also awarded a shield of honor.
